A novel adaptive terahertz system for reliable and efficient maritime communications under hostile sea conditions

Terahertz (THz) frequency band has been widely used in indoor, outdoor and space communications due to its advantage of large available bandwidth. However, limited research conducted apply THz technique maritime as hostile sea conditions cause significant path loss, thus leading unacceptable signal error rate. In this paper, we propose a novel adaptive communication system tackle the above-mentioned challenge. Specifically, design joint source-channel coding scheme by using random linear network (sRLNC) Reed-Solomon (RS) ensure transmission reliability. To further improve efficiency, triple-channel architecture facilitated very high (VHF) feedback channel. With design, source data can be transmitted via main channel while redundancy is dispatched auxiliary Meanwhile, allows sender use an mechanism achieve efficiency with higher rate over long distance. addition, adopt Doppler offset environment compensate both relative movement between parties adversarial factors, e.g., strong wind extreme states. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed remarkable capability not only up 20Gbps compared those conventional (HF), VHF millimeter wave systems but also transmit longer distance lower BERs.
